TRUCK FACTORING

Factor Your Freight Invoices to Access Working Capital

Is Your Trucking Company Running Out of Money?

Anyone in the trucking industry, whether you’re a one truck owner-operator or manage a fleet, needs consistent cash flow. The reality, however, is that many brokers and shippers take weeks or even months to pay their invoices. Lack of working capital can have a serious impact on your business, affecting your ability to fuel your trucks, pay your bills, and haul more loads. Invoice factoring, often referred to as truck factoring, can be an effective solution for truckers wanting to enjoy more consistent cash flow.

What Is Truck Factoring?

Factoring provides a way for truck drivers to receive faster payments for invoices. The factoring process involves selling your load invoices, or freight bills to a factoring company in exchange for a small percentage of the invoice’s value. You then receive payment and your customer pays the factoring company.

How Truck Factoring Works

Once you are approved for factoring, the factoring company pays you most of the invoice’s value. You will usually receive up to 95% of the face value up front, often within 24 hours of delivery and verification. Once your customer pays the invoice, you will receive the remainder of the invoice value with a nominal fee deducted.

How Do I Qualify For Factoring?

Applying and qualifying for truck factoring is usually a simple and straightforward process. It’s much  easier to qualify for factoring than a traditional bank loan. Factoring companies don’t consider your financial situation or credit score, making it easier for new and smaller companies or solo truckers to qualify. You do, however, need to submit invoices from credit worthy customers.

Truck Factoring Is Easy

The following steps in truck factoring are common for most truck drivers and trucking companies.

  1. You find a trustworthy factoring company and sign up.
  2. You inform your customers about the factoring arrangement. This is a common practice in the transportation industry, so most businesses are familiar with it.
  3. You haul the load and perform the agreed-upon services for your customer as usual.
  4. You send an invoice to the factoring company.
  5. The factoring company verifies that you made the delivery.
  6. You receive an advance from the factoring company within 24 hours of submitting the invoice and it being verified.
  7. The factoring company collects payment from your customer.
